Greetings from Your District Director!
They say that life is what you make it, and I am living proof. Never in a million years did I think I would be serving as District 84 Director 2020-2021. As a young adult I was someone whose English was so bad that my supervisor made me join Toastmasters at work. I continued as a member of the Collins Toastmasters Club from that day until I retired in 2014.
Joining Toastmasters was life changing, I showed up, participated, and gave it my all. With the help of the Grammarian and lots of good feedback from my fellow members at club meetings my English gradually improved…and so did my career. The Communication and Leadership Skills I learned from the Toastmasters Program gave me the confidence to go back to school. I stayed with it, obtaining three college degrees and receiving six promotions at work.
From an entry level assembler sitting on an assembly line making $3.60 an hour, with no hope for advancement I rose to become a Sr. Electronics Technician Specialist when I retired. I am proof that Toastmasters is life changing.
Just as I served my company for 30 years, I have been serving my Clubs, Areas, Divisions and District 84 for just as long.
Fellow Toastmasters, you already made the first step to improve yourself by joining a Toastmasters Club. But have you taken advantage of everything that the Toastmasters program has to offer? I DID, and you should, too.
Thank you for allowing me to serve as your District 84 Director for 2020-2021. Together we will embrace all the changes and excel. We know where we are, we know where we want to be, Let’s work together and have the greatest year ever.
Because Together We Can!
Pim Parpart, DTM
District Director 2020-2021
Each year comes with its own challenges. This year will have its own opportunities and we are prepared to embrace them. You have what it takes to be successful, either in Toastmasters or in your personal and professional lives. We have teams in place that want to help you succeed.
In my experience Toastmasters are people who embody the spirit of helping hands. Helping ourselves to grow and learn and helping others to succeed.
What does success mean? To see a challenge and overcome itor to learn from it, both are successes.
If we are content with doing what we’ve always done, we will also have to settle for getting what we have always gotten.
This year I would like to encourage you to Dream Big dreams, Try new Things. Go for that next Pathways level or your DTM. Step up and take on a leadership role.Get out of your comfort zone. Do not doubt your own potential, and go for the Gold (Golden Gavel)
Let’s make it a Smedley Distinguished Year!

Program Quality Director 2020-2021
