Public Relations
I
see my role as a Public Relations Officer as one of service and
support to the District. But that's nothing new for me as I've
been serving District 47 for the last five years as an Area Governor,
Fall 2006 Conference co-chair and most recently as Division A Governor.
TI defines the PRO as the officer who serves in a staff
position under the direction of the district governor to establish
and maintain mutual lines of communication, understanding, acceptance
and cooperation between the district and its members, as well
as between the district and the public, working to increase awareness
of Toastmasters through all available media.
Highlights of this position are to:
Administer the policies
and programs related to public relations for Toastmasters International,
the district and the club.
Prepare a public relations
program to keep both members and non-members aware of the Toastmasters
program and help achieve district goals for membership building
and retention, building new clubs and achievement of CCs, ACs,
CLs, ALs and DTMs.
Promote use of Toastmasters'
educational programming, district conferences and events, as well
as leadership and training opportunities within the district.
Am I going to be able to do this job?? You betcha!!
But I can't do it alone.I'm going to
need YOUR help.
I'll be looking for ideas, feedback and support from both
the District leaders and members to help make their Toastmasters
experience a great one; and also to develop strategies to share
those great experiences with folks who aren't yet Toastmasters.
In fact, I'm already putting together a winning team of
VPPR to partner with me so we can leverage each others successes
and learn from our mistakes. Take a look at the July edition
of the D84 Newsletter for complete details and come join the
team!
I'm truly looking forward to a tremendous first year with
you as we blaze the trail to success as the brand new District
84!
